Senior Data Protection Lawyer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Data Protection Lawyer to join their expanding legal team, operating on a fully remote basis. This crucial role involves providing expert legal guidance on all aspects of data privacy and protection law, ensuring the company's compliance with GDPR and other relevant legislation across its global operations. You will play a vital part in shaping data protection strategy, advising on complex data processing activities, and managing data breach incidents. Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on data protection and privacy matters, including GDPR, CCPA, and other international regulations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust data protection policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on data processing agreements.
• Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and regulatory inquiries.
• Advise on data breach incidents, including investigation, notification, and remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with IT, security, and business teams to embed data protection by design and by default.

Requirements

• A qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 6 years' post-qualification experience, specializing in data protection and privacy law.
• In-depth knowledge of GDPR and other global privacy regulations.
• Proven experience in advising on complex data processing activities and cross-border data transfers.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a remote caseload effectively.
• CIPP/E or equivalent data protection certification is highly desirable.
