Senior Data Scientist - Bioinformatics

About the Role

Our client is actively searching for a skilled Senior Data Scientist with a strong focus on bioinformatics to join their innovative, fully remote team. This role is pivotal in analyzing large-scale biological datasets, including genomic, proteomic, and clinical data, to drive discovery and inform decision-making in therapeutic development. You will leverage advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization techniques to extract critical insights. Working collaboratively with researchers and clinicians across different geographical locations, you will play a key role in advancing precision medicine initiatives, all within a flexible, remote-first work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sophisticated analytical models and machine learning algorithms for biological data.
• Perform in-depth analysis of large datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and clinical trial data.
• Collaborate with biologists, chemists, and clinicians to translate research questions into data science problems.
• Design and execute A/B tests and other experiments to validate hypotheses.
• Create clear and compelling data visualizations and reports for diverse audiences.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's technical growth.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a significant portion focused on biological or healthcare data.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong understanding of statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and experimental design.
• Experience with database technologies (SQL/NoSQL) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a remote setting .
