Senior Data Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist to join their innovative drug discovery team based in Cardiff . This is a critical, on-site role where you will leverage vast datasets to uncover new therapeutic targets and accelerate the development of life-saving medicines. You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing advanced analytical models, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques to extract meaningful insights from complex biological and chemical data. This position offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of pharmaceutical research, contributing directly to pipeline advancements and collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of biologists, chemists, and clinicians to push the boundaries of scientific discovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy machine learning models for target identification, lead optimization, and predictive toxicology.
• Analyze high-dimensional biological data, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics datasets.
• Design and implement robust data analysis pipelines for large-scale research studies.
• Collaborate with research teams to define key scientific questions and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, with a focus on biological or pharmaceutical research.
• Proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, and experience with relevant data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience working with relational databases and big data technologies.
