About the Role
Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Data Scientist to join their innovative, fully remote team focusing on Energy Analytics . This role is central to unlocking actionable insights from vast datasets, driving efficiency and innovation within the energy sector. You will develop advanced analytical models, machine learning algorithms, and data-driven solutions to address complex challenges in areas like grid optimization, demand forecasting, and renewable energy integration. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled data professional with a passion for applying cutting-edge techniques to real-world energy problems, working autonomously within a supportive virtual environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for predictive analytics in areas such as energy consumption forecasting, grid load balancing, and asset performance monitoring.
- Analyze large, complex datasets from various energy sources (smart meters, grid sensors, market data) to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Develop and implement data mining and statistical analysis techniques to extract meaningful insights.
- Collaborate with energy engineers, data engineers, and domain experts to define analytical requirements and translate business needs into data science solutions.
- Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of the company's data science capabilities and best practices.
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Requirements
- PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science, with a proven track record in developing and implementing machine learning models.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R, including expertise in libraries like Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and database management (SQL, NoSQL).
- Solid understanding of statistical modeling, experimental design, and data visualization techniques.
- Familiarity with the energy sector , including grid operations, renewables, or energy markets, is highly desirable.
