Senior Data Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics initiatives within their FMCG organization. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will be instrumental in leveraging large datasets to uncover insights, build predictive models, and drive data-informed decision-making across the business, from consumer behaviour to supply chain optimization. This role requires a deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization techniques, working within a collaborative, virtual team environment to push the boundaries of data science in a consumer-focused industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy sophisticated machine learning models and statistical analyses to address complex business challenges.
• Extract, clean, and transform large, complex datasets from various sources for analysis.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and analytical frameworks to support ongoing reporting and insights.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into analytical solutions.
• Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth of the data science practice within the company.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong portfolio of projects, preferably in FMCG or a related consumer industry.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Excellent understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fully remote , collaborative setting.
