Senior Data Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join their expanding data analytics team in Sheffield . This role is integral to unlocking actionable insights from complex datasets, driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. You will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques to solve challenging business problems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong quantitative background, excellent programming skills, and a proven ability to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, contributing to a data-centric culture of innovation and discovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy sophisticated statistical models and machine learning algorithms to address business challenges.
• Perform data exploration, feature engineering, and data preparation for modeling purposes.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive strategic business decisions.
• Design and conduct A/B tests and other experiments to evaluate the impact of data-driven initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate models into production systems and ensure data quality.
• Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences through reports and presentations.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar quantitative role.
• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, including experience with relevant data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Proven experience with database querying languages (e.g., SQL) and data warehousing concepts.
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning), and data mining.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts effectively.
