About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to manage and maintain their critical database infrastructure in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of all databases. You will be involved in database design, implementation, monitoring, and tuning, as well as disaster recovery planning and execution. This is a key position requiring a deep understanding of various database systems and a commitment to operational excellence, offering a chance to work with advanced technologies and contribute significantly to the company's data strategy within the Stoke-on-Trent region.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Monitor database performance and tune queries and indexes for optimal efficiency.
- Implement and manage database security, including user access controls and data encryption.
- Perform regular database backups and develop comprehensive disaster recovery plans.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and ensure data integrity.
- Plan and execute database migrations and implementations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on relational databases.
- In-depth knowledge of database administration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or other major RDBMS.
- Proficiency in SQL scripting and stored procedure development.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE: Data Management and Analytics) are a plus.
