Job Description
We are actively recruiting and experienced and enthusiastic senior design and Projects Engineer to join our busy design team.
You will be responsible for
* Preparation of initial project drawing layouts (Solidworks).
* Work closely with the Sales team to understand the specification of new projects.
* Produce general assembly drawings, detail drawings and part list BOM schedules.
* Work within project budgets and liaise with purchasing to maintain costs and within budget.
* Produce final build and install drawings.
* Issue build and assembly jobs to the workshop and liaise with production technicians during the build process.
* Provide technical support and assistance to customers at a technical level.
* Capability of handling projects on their own and with our team.
* Quickly gaining a good technical understanding of our products and applications.
* Handling a number of projects simultaneously and working to tight deadlines.
* Work additional hours when required, so that we can meet target dates.
* Visits to our customer sites to measure up and check layout drawings.
* Hold regular meetings with the customer to approve the design of the project, discuss timelines and build plans.
* Assist in leading the technical areas of projects within the design office.
* Create R&D concepts, designs and budgets, along R&D claim reports.
* Assist with design risk assessments and documentation.
Experience:
* The successful applicant would need to have a strong technical engineering background.
* At least 10 years’ experience working in engineering and design of automation machinery.
* Experience with 3D CAD software SolidWorks
* Experience of electro-mechanical design using pneumatics, sensors
* Knowledge of automation machinery, conveyors and conveyor systems or material handling or manufacturing machinery and equipment.
* Fully computer literate and conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Have a good telephone manner and be familiar with standard office procedures.
* Good ‘people skills’ are required and should be able to fit into our existing team.
* Good commercial awareness.
* Excellent communication and people facing skills
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Live within 20 Miles of Farnborough
This is a permanent full-time position which is office based. 08:00 start. 37.5 hour week. Overtime will be paid at a premium rate as required
