Job Description
Our client, a leading consultancy in the automotive sector, is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer - Vehicle and Suspension to join their dynamic team in Shoreham on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:
The mechanical design of components through concept, definitive and detail design phases
Conducting detailed mechanical design work including 3D modelling, basic stress calculations, FMEA's, 2D layouts, 2D detailing, and tolerance stacks
Creating system and component specifications, ensuring design meets requirements
Producing 2D drawings for manufacturing or purchase
Producing assembly drawings and bill of materials
Carrying out design change requests promptly
Ensuring fit and function of responsible parts or systems and their interaction with other systems
Preparing and presenting mechanical designs at design reviews
Job Requirements:
Degree (Bachelor or Masters) in mechanical engineering or a similar field, or equivalent experience
Experience as a Design Engineer, with a focus on suspension, subframe design, or suspension and steering components
Experience in off-highway, commercial vehicle, or automotive sectors preferred
Proficient user of Catia and familiar with PLM systems, preferably PTC Windchill
Strong understanding of technical specifications and the ability to produce technical drawings to a high standard with GD&T competency
Demonstrated ability to produce designs within specified deadlines
Confident, proactive character with excellent communication skills
Additional Requirements:
Effective communication in English at all levels
Self-motivated and a strong team player
Excellent problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
