Senior Design System Engineer Rate: £(Apply online only) per day Location: Windsor – 1 day per week in the office Work Type: Contract – minimum 6 months

Role We’re looking for a Senior Design System Engineer to join a large-scale organisation and help build, evolve and maintain the components that sit at the heart of its digital products.

This isn't a standard frontend development role.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely understands design systems – an engineer who cares about how components are architected, how they behave across different products and environments, and how design and engineering come together to create consistent digital experiences.

You'll be working hands-on with JavaScript and Web Components, solving complex UI problems and creating reusable solutions that can work at scale.

Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

Building and evolving reusable Web Components Developing components using JavaScript and native web technologies Solving complex frontend and UI problems with simple, scalable solutions Building components that can be reused across different products and contexts Considering accessibility, semantics and usability throughout development Working closely with UX, design and engineering teams Helping translate design requirements into robust technical solutions Maintaining consistency and quality across a wider design system Communicating technical decisions clearly with stakeholders Contributing to the longer-term direction and evolution of the design systemRequired Skills We’re looking for someone with strong experience across:

JavaScript Web Components HTML and CSS Design systems and component libraries Reusable component architecture Accessibility and semantic web development Modern frontend engineering practices UX and design principles Cross-functional working between design and engineering Stakeholder management and communicationMost importantly, you'll understand why a component should be built in a particular way rather than simply being able to code it.

You should be comfortable challenging requirements, thinking through different use cases and creating solutions that are accessible, adaptable and reusable. Why should I apply?This is an opportunity to work on design systems at genuine scale.
