Senior Drilling Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Engineer to join their innovative team in Coventry . This role is central to designing, planning, and executing safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations for exploration and development wells. You will leverage your extensive experience to overcome complex drilling challenges and contribute to strategic operational planning within the Oil & Gas industry . This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the successful execution of drilling campaigns from start to finish in the West Midlands region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs, including well design, casing schemes, and directional plans.
• Oversee drilling operations on-site or remotely, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company standards.
• Manage drilling fluid programs, cementation strategies, and completion designs.
• Conduct post-well analysis to identify lessons learned and implement improvements for future operations.
• Coordinate with supply chain, HSE, and operational teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Evaluate and select appropriate drilling equipment and technologies.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling engineering , with a proven track record in the Oil & Gas sector .
• In-depth knowledge of drilling operations, equipment, and associated risks.
• Experience with drilling simulation software and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations related to drilling.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
