Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join their team based in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK . You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations across various projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a deep understanding of drilling techniques, equipment, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with exploration, completions, and operations teams to achieve project objectives and contribute to the overall success of the company's upstream activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and design well drilling programs, including casing design, cementing, and fluid selection.
• Supervise drilling operations, manage service providers, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Conduct drilling risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential hazards.
• Optimize drilling parameters to improve efficiency, reduce non-productive time (NPT), and control costs.
• Review drilling performance data and prepare post-drill analysis reports.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior drilling engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in drilling engineering , including offshore and onshore operations.
• Strong knowledge of drilling equipment, tools, and technologies.
• Proficiency in drilling software and performance analysis tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid IWCF certification or equivalent.
