Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Engineer to join their expanding operations team, based in the heart of the UK in Coventry . In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, planning, and execution of safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations for oil and gas wells. You will manage all aspects of the drilling process, from conceptual design through to operational execution and post-well analysis, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan drilling programs, including casing and cementing strategies, drilling fluid selection, and directional control.
• Supervise drilling operations on-site or remotely, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational objectives.
• Manage contracts and services related to drilling operations, including equipment, personnel, and logistics.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for potential drilling hazards.
• Analyze drilling performance data, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Mentor junior drilling engineers and contribute to the development of technical expertise within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in drilling engineering , with a proven track record of successful well completions.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling technologies , equipment, and associated risks.
• Experience with drilling simulation software and advanced directional drilling techniques.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the energy sector.
