Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join their dedicated team in Reading . This role is essential for the planning, execution, and optimization of complex drilling operations across various challenging environments within the Oil & Gas sector . You will be responsible for ensuring all drilling activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, adhering to the highest industry standards. The position involves close collaboration with rig site personnel, service providers, and the wider subsurface team to achieve drilling objectives and manage risks effectively, contributing to the company's operational success in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and design well trajectories, casing programs, and completion strategies for oil and gas wells.
• Develop detailed drilling programs, including procedures for directional drilling, cementing, and fluid management.
• Oversee drilling operations at the rig site, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
• Manage relationships with drilling contractors and service companies, ensuring performance and cost control.
• Conduct post-well analysis and lessons learned studies to continuously improve drilling performance.
• Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling engineering , with significant field experience.
• Proven expertise in directional drilling, well planning software, and drilling data analysis.
• Strong understanding of wellbore mechanics, cementing, and fluid dynamics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
