Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Engineer to join their expanding operations based in Coventry . This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling campaigns across various projects. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing drilling operations, managing risks, and implementing innovative drilling technologies. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing drilling performance and achieving project objectives in a challenging yet rewarding environment within the Oil & Gas industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive drilling programs, including well trajectory design, casing design, and cementing strategies.
• Supervise drilling operations on-site or remotely, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Manage drilling rig logistics, equipment, and personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Conduct post-drill analyses to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement in future drilling campaigns.
• Evaluate and select appropriate drilling equipment, tools, and services to meet project requirements.
• Perform risk assessments and develop contingency plans for potential drilling hazards and operational challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in drilling engineering , with a strong understanding of offshore and onshore operations.
• Proficiency in drilling software and performance tracking tools.
• Demonstrated experience in managing drilling budgets and optimizing drilling costs.
• Knowledge of well control principles, BOP systems, and subsea drilling is essential.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
