Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join their team in Plymouth . This role is critical for planning, executing, and optimizing drilling operations for oil and gas wells. You will be responsible for developing drilling programs, managing rig operations, ensuring safety compliance, and controlling costs associated with drilling activities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of drilling technologies, well control principles, and project management in a demanding offshore or onshore environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive drilling plans and programs, including well design, casing strategies, and cementing operations.
• Manage and supervise rig site operations, ensuring safe and efficient execution of drilling activities.
• Conduct daily drilling performance monitoring and analysis to optimize drilling parameters.
• Perform well control calculations and ensure adherence to all safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage drilling-related risks, including geological hazards and equipment failures.
• Prepare detailed post-drilling reports and conduct lessons learned sessions for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling engineering , with a proven track record in operational roles.
• Strong understanding of drilling fluids, cementation, directional drilling, and wellbore stability.
• Experience with drilling software and simulation tools.
• Knowledge of BOP systems and well control procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
