Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operations based in Birmingham . This role is pivotal in planning, executing, and supervising all drilling and completion operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for developing drilling programs, selecting appropriate equipment, managing drilling fluids, and mitigating risks associated with subsurface operations. This position requires a proactive individual who can provide expert technical advice and leadership within a challenging and rewarding environment, contributing to the successful execution of projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs and cost estimates for various well types.
• Oversee drilling operations on-site or remotely, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards.
• Select and manage drilling equipment, tools, and services, including rig selection and contracting.
• Monitor wellbore stability, manage drilling fluid properties, and control downhole pressures.
• Conduct post-drilling analysis and provide recommendations for future operations.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in drilling engineering, with a strong focus on offshore or onshore operations.
• Proficiency in drilling software and well planning tools.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling hydraulics, cementing, casing design, and directional drilling.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple priorities in Birmingham .
