About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operations team in Birmingham . This role is crucial for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling campaigns, ensuring adherence to the highest industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations, working closely with various field and office-based teams. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed drilling programs, including well design, casing design, and fluid selection.
- Oversee and manage drilling operations on-site, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and budgets.
- Identify and mitigate drilling risks, developing contingency plans for potential operational challenges.
- Optimize drilling performance through the application of best practices and new technologies.
- Conduct post-drilling analysis and performance reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in drilling engineering and operations.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and associated risks.
- Experience with well planning software and directional drilling operations.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the oil and gas sector.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
