Senior Drilling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Drilling Engineer to join their expanding operations based in Coventry . You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a deep understanding of drilling technologies and best practices. You will play a key role in developing drilling programs and managing service providers, contributing to the successful extraction of vital energy resources in a challenging and dynamic sector, working within a hybrid model that balances office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs and operational procedures for onshore and offshore wells.
• Manage and supervise drilling operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Perform well engineering calculations, including directional well planning, casing design, and trajectory optimization.
• Select and manage drilling tools, equipment, and service providers, negotiating contracts and monitoring performance.
• Conduct post-well analysis to identify lessons learned and implement improvements for future operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve drilling-related issues to minimize non-productive time (NPT).

Requirements

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling engineering , with hands-on operational exposure.
• Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing, well control, and directional drilling techniques.
• Experience with drilling software and simulation tools.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and work effectively with diverse teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
