About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their offshore operations team, based out of Plymouth . This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of drilling operations by managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems. You will be responsible for the design, testing, and implementation of drilling fluid programs, ensuring they meet the specific geological and operational challenges encountered. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in drilling fluid chemistry and performance, coupled with hands-on experience in field operations. This is a critical role for maintaining safe and effective drilling campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
- Oversee the supply, testing, and quality control of drilling fluid materials and equipment.
- Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for drilling fluid operations.
- Monitor drilling fluid performance, analyze data, and recommend adjustments to optimize efficiency and minimize costs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies regarding drilling fluid management.
- Conduct post-well analysis of drilling fluid performance and prepare detailed reports.
- Collaborate with drilling engineers and other service providers to ensure integrated operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer , with significant offshore experience.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and additives.
- Experience with solids control equipment and techniques.
- Familiarity with mud reporting software and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of wellbore stability and formation damage mechanisms related to drilling fluids.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
