Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operations in Bristol, South West England, UK . This position is critical for ensuring the effective design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems used in various Oil & Gas exploration and production activities. You will be responsible for providing expert technical support, troubleshooting fluid-related issues on drilling rigs, and ensuring systems meet stringent performance and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, properties, and applications, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving skills within the demanding Oil & Gas sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and supervise the implementation of drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for drilling fluid systems during rig operations.
• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of drilling fluid properties to ensure performance and compliance.
• Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid chemicals and equipment.
• Develop and present technical reports on drilling fluid performance, cost analysis, and recommendations for improvement.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to drilling fluid management.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and additives.
• Experience with various drilling fluid systems (e.g., water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based muds).
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of drilling operations and the impact of fluids on wellbore stability and drilling efficiency.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in remote locations.
