Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for a balance between on-site laboratory work and remote technical support. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations. Your expertise will be critical in optimizing drilling performance, minimizing non-productive time, and managing costs associated with drilling fluids. This role requires a deep understanding of fluid chemistry, rheology, and their application in various drilling environments within the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Design drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
• Supervise drilling fluid operations on location, ensuring adherence to programs and specifications.
• Monitor fluid properties and performance, making adjustments as needed to optimize drilling efficiency.
• Troubleshoot downhole problems related to drilling fluids, such as stuck pipe and lost circulation.
• Manage inventory and procurement of drilling fluid materials and equipment.
• Prepare technical reports on drilling fluid performance and cost analysis.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer , with a strong operational background.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and additives.
• Experience with various drilling fluid systems (e.g., water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based).
• Familiarity with drilling fluid testing equipment and procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical) or a related science field.
