About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their team in Brighton . This role is integral to ensuring efficient and safe drilling operations within the Oil & Gas sector. You will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing drilling fluid systems to meet specific wellbore challenges, focusing on performance, cost-effectiveness, and environmental compliance. This position requires a strong technical background in drilling fluid chemistry and engineering, along with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a larger operational team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage drilling fluid programs for various drilling applications.
- Supervise and support mud engineers on drilling rigs, ensuring fluid properties are maintained within specifications.
- Monitor drilling fluid performance and troubleshoot issues related to wellbore stability, formation damage, and hole cleaning.
- Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of drilling fluid samples to evaluate properties and performance.
- Provide technical recommendations for fluid system optimization and cost reduction.
- Ensure all fluid operations comply with environmental regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related science field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or in a related role within the Oil & Gas industry.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry , additives, and their application.
- Experience with drilling fluid modeling and simulation software is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of wellbore hydraulics and formation interaction.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
