About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operational team in Southampton . This vital role involves the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe and efficient well construction in the challenging oil and gas environments. You will be responsible for overseeing fluid operations, providing technical expertise, and troubleshooting any issues that arise, working closely with drilling crews and management. This is a hands-on position for an experienced professional dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of wellbore integrity and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
• Oversee the mixing, testing, and circulation of drilling fluids to maintain desired properties and performance.
• Provide on-site technical support and supervision for drilling fluid operations.
• Analyze drilling fluid performance data and implement adjustments to optimize hole cleaning, wellbore stability, and fluid loss control.
• Manage inventory of drilling fluid chemicals and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer in the oil and gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and filtration properties.
• Experience with various drilling fluid systems, including water-based and oil-based muds.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work effectively under pressure on offshore or onshore rigs.
