Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Automotive

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their cutting-edge team in Bristol , focusing on the Automotive sector. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to shape the future of vehicle electrical systems, working on innovative designs for next-generation vehicles. You will lead design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and systems engineers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of automotive electrical architectures, power distribution, and low-voltage systems, along with a passion for automotive technology and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and development of automotive components and systems, including wiring harnesses, ECUs, and sensor integration.
• Create and manage detailed electrical schematics, 3D CAD models, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform electrical simulations and analysis to validate designs for performance, EMC, and thermal management.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure component quality and timely delivery.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues during vehicle development and production phases.
• Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in automotive electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical architectures, CAN bus, LIN, and Ethernet communication.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, SOLIDWORKS Electrical) and simulation software.
• Experience with automotive standards and validation processes.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
