Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their team in Wolverhampton . This hybrid role involves designing and developing electrical systems for a range of energy projects, requiring a combination of office-based design work and site-based collaboration. You will be responsible for creating detailed electrical schematics, specifications, and reports, ensuring designs meet stringent industry standards and client requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
• Prepare detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control system designs.
• Specify electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, motors, and protection relays.
• Conduct load flow analysis , short circuit calculations, and other power system studies.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC standards).
• Collaborate with project teams, including civil, mechanical, and construction engineers, to ensure integrated project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical design, specifically within power systems or energy infrastructure.
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E).
• Strong understanding of electrical protection systems, grounding, and earthing.
• Experience with high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) systems.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
