Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly competent Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their expert team in Portsmouth , focusing on critical power systems and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for the detailed design and development of electrical systems for a range of applications, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed electrical design for power systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
• Specify electrical components, equipment, and materials, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Conduct load calculations , fault current analysis, and protection coordination studies.
• Prepare technical specifications, design reports, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and contractors to ensure design integration.
• Provide technical support during the manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and testing phases.
• Review and approve designs prepared by junior engineers and external consultants.

Requirements

• BEng/MEng degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical design engineering , with a focus on power systems and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, Amtech) and power system analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, IEC standards).
• Experience with Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) systems is essential.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
