Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Renewables

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their innovative team, offering the flexibility of fully remote working. This role is integral to the design and development of cutting-edge electrical systems for renewable energy projects, including solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid systems. You will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs, ensuring compliance with standards, and collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and reliable energy solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, and specifications for renewable energy projects .
• Perform electrical system calculations, including load flow, fault level, and earthing studies.
• Specify electrical equipment, such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cables.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., BS 7671, EREC G98/G99).
• Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and clients to ensure design integrity and successful project delivery.
• Review and approve designs from external consultants and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on the renewable energy sector .
• Proficiency in using electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or PSS/E.
• Solid understanding of power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Experience with solar PV , battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid connection requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting .
