Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Edinburgh . This role involves leading the design and specification of electrical systems for a variety of prestigious projects, including commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. You will be responsible for ensuring that designs are innovative, efficient, sustainable, and meet all relevant regulatory standards. The position offers a hybrid working model, balancing collaborative office-based work with the flexibility of remote working. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process from concept through to completion for building services projects.
• Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD and BIM software.
• Conduct lighting design calculations, power distribution studies, and emergency system designs.
• Collaborate closely with architects, M&E consultants, and project managers to integrate electrical systems effectively.
• Undertake site visits to monitor progress and ensure design intent is realised.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians within the team.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Substantial experience (7+ years) in building services electrical design.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD, with strong knowledge of relevant design software.
• In-depth understanding of electrical building regulations, British Standards, and CIBSE guidelines.
• Experience in sustainable design practices and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills, suited for a hybrid role.
