About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their established team in Leicester . This pivotal role involves the complete lifecycle of electrical design, from initial concept and schematic development through to detailed design, testing, and commissioning for a variety of exciting projects. You will play a key part in ensuring the technical integrity and innovation of our electrical systems, working within a dynamic engineering department that values precision, collaboration, and professional development. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for new projects, developing detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Perform electrical calculations , power distribution analysis, and component selection to meet project specifications and safety standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
• Conduct site visits for surveys, installation supervision, and commissioning activities as required.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices, including BS 7671 .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on schematic capture and control system design .
• Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Demonstrable experience with power systems , motor control, and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with project management principles and the ability to manage design tasks effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving design challenges.
