Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their busy engineering department in Reading . This role is vital for the design and development of electrical systems for a range of projects within the energy and industrial sectors . You will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs, specifications, and drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead design efforts, mentor junior team members, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, control systems, and earthing.
• Prepare technical specifications, single-line diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards such as BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations, and other applicable codes.
• Conduct power system analysis , including load calculations, fault level studies, and cable sizing.
• Coordinate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, structural, process).
• Provide technical support during the procurement, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design engineering , preferably in industrial or energy-related projects.
• Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP) for electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of electrical building services, power distribution, and protection systems.
• Experience with lighting design software and relevant calculations.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
