Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy, is seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their thriving practice in Belfast . This role is crucial for developing innovative and sustainable electrical designs for a wide array of building and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for leading design activities, ensuring technical excellence, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects from conception through to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in building services electrical design and a passion for creating efficient, reliable, and future-proof electrical systems, working collaboratively within a team of highly skilled professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for commercial, industrial, and residential projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Produce detailed electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports using industry-standard software.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather information and inform design development.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants to ensure seamless project coordination and integration.
• Perform electrical load calculations, lighting design, power distribution design, and earthing/bonding design.
• Undertake technical reviews and provide mentorship to junior design engineers within the team.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant HND/HNC qualification with significant experience.
• A minimum of 6 years' experience in electrical design engineering , preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Proficiency in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP) for electrical design and drafting.
• Strong knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and other relevant UK building standards.
• Experience with lighting design software and power system analysis tools.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
