Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading consultancy within the energy infrastructure sector , is seeking a talented Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Wolverhampton . This role is key to developing innovative and compliant electrical designs for a variety of energy projects, including power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. You will lead design efforts, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to project specifications and industry standards. This position supports a hybrid working model, allowing for productive collaboration both in the office and remotely, contributing to the delivery of critical power engineering solutions .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems for power generation, distribution, and transmission projects.
• Prepare detailed electrical design drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports using CAD software.
• Conduct load flow, short circuit, and protection studies for electrical networks.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical standards and codes.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders, utilizing hybrid work arrangements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design engineering , with a focus on the energy sector.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E).
• Strong understanding of power systems analysis, protection schemes, and low/medium/high voltage systems.
• Experience with renewable energy integration or grid connection studies is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills for a hybrid work environment.
