Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their dedicated team in Portsmouth . This role is integral to the design and development of electrical systems for a range of energy infrastructure projects, including power generation, transmission, and distribution. You will take a lead role in producing detailed electrical designs, specifications, and calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in electrical engineering, excellent design software proficiency, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, contributing to the successful delivery of critical energy projects that support the UK's evolving power landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, protection, and control schemes.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and arc flash analysis.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical standards (e.g., IEC, BS).
• Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design engineering within the energy or power sector.
• Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or PSS/E.
• Strong knowledge of power systems engineering principles, including protection and control systems.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage project tasks effectively.
