Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK . This role is central to designing and developing robust electrical systems for a range of industrial and commercial applications. You will be responsible for leading design projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and mentoring junior engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for new projects, from conceptualization through to detailed design and documentation.
• Prepare comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and single-line diagrams using CAD software.
• Perform complex electrical calculations, including load calculations, fault studies, and protection device selection.
• Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards, regulations (e.g., BS 7671 ), and client specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, automation, and project management, to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and site installation teams.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical , SolidWorks Electrical, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of power distribution, control systems, and industrial electrical installations.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA systems integration is highly advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
