About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly competent Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding engineering department in Derby . This role is essential for the design and development of electrical systems for a variety of industrial applications. You will take ownership of complex design projects, ensuring solutions meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. This position offers a significant opportunity to lead challenging design tasks, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the technical direction of the company within the Derbyshire industrial landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems, schematics, and control panels.
- Specify electrical components, wiring, and instrumentation for industrial machinery and systems.
- Conduct electrical load calculations, circuit protection analysis, and power distribution design.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical systems and provide technical support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design engineering , particularly in industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Strong knowledge of IEC and NEMA standards, as well as relevant safety regulations (e.g., ATEX).
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects in Derby .
