Senior Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their established engineering consultancy in Liverpool . This role involves the conceptualization, design, and specification of electrical systems for a variety of projects, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure developments. You will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs, ensuring compliance with national and international standards, and coordinating with other disciplines. This is an excellent opportunity for a design-focused engineer to take on significant responsibility, contribute to diverse projects, and mentor junior members of the team, all within a supportive and collaborative consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, and low-voltage systems.
• Produce engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD and BIM software .
• Conduct load calculations, circuit design, and ensure compliance with IET Wiring Regulations and other relevant standards.
• Liaise with clients, architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide design solutions.
• Perform site surveys and inspections to ensure designs are implemented correctly and to specification.
• Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers and technicians, reviewing their work for quality and accuracy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (7+ years) in electrical building services or industrial electrical design .
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar design software .
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations relevant to building services and infrastructure.
• Experience with single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and cable sizing calculations.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
