About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Grid Integration to join their dedicated team based in Cardiff . This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless and reliable connection of new energy sources, including renewables and energy storage, to the national grid. You will play a key part in the technical planning, design, and implementation of grid connection strategies, working on-site and in the office to overcome complex engineering challenges. This is an ideal position for a motivated engineer looking to contribute to the modernization and expansion of the UK's energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer technical solutions for the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) and large-scale power generation facilities into the electricity grid.
- Conduct detailed power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and protection analysis.
- Develop grid connection applications and technical documentation for submission to network operators.
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of grid connection schemes.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on electrical engineering best practices, relevant standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to grid connection and power system performance.
Requirements
- BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience (5+ years) as an Electrical Engineer with a focus on power systems and grid integration .
- Strong understanding of AC/DC power systems, protection schemes, and power electronics.
- Proficiency with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD).
- Familiarity with UK grid codes and relevant industry regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
