About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in Power Electronics to join their forward-thinking team in Reading . This role is critical for the design and development of high-efficiency power conversion systems that underpin our advanced technological solutions. You will lead complex design projects, from conceptualization through to production, ensuring cutting-edge performance and reliability. This position offers a significant opportunity to influence product development and mentor engineering talent within a hybrid work model.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, simulation, and testing of advanced power electronic circuits and systems (e.g., SMPS, inverters, converters).
- Specify and select power components, including MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes, and capacitors.
- Develop thermal management strategies and ensure designs meet stringent performance and reliability targets.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop control algorithms for power converters.
- Oversee the transition of designs from R&D to manufacturing, providing technical support.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall technical strategy for power electronics development.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in designing and testing power electronic circuits.
- In-depth knowledge of power semiconductor devices, magnetic components, and control strategies.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or PLECS.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and experience working in a hybrid team environment in Reading .
