About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Electronics to join their innovative team in Oxford . This role is essential for the design and development of high-performance power conversion systems used in advanced technological applications. You will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from concept and simulation through to prototype testing and product release. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects within a dynamic and research-intensive environment, collaborating with leading experts in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced power electronic converters, including AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC converters.
- Perform detailed circuit simulations, thermal analysis, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design.
- Select appropriate power semiconductor devices, passive components, and control ICs.
- Develop control algorithms and firmware for power electronic systems.
- Design and build prototypes, and conduct rigorous testing and validation.
- Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to ensure integrated system performance.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- Significant experience (5+ years) in the design and development of power electronic circuits and systems.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as PLECS, SPICE, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices, magnetic components, and control theory.
- Experience with PCB design and layout for power electronics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
