Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics

About the Role

Our client is searching for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in Power Electronics to join their remote R&D team. This role is crucial for the design, development, and testing of innovative power conversion systems for advanced technological applications. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of power electronics technology, contributing to next-generation products. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to work on challenging projects from a remote location, with occasional travel to our Nottingham facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-efficiency power electronic converters (e.g., AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC) for various applications.
• Conduct detailed circuit analysis, simulation, and component selection for power electronic designs.
• Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of power electronic circuits and systems.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers to develop control algorithms for power converters.
• Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
• Contribute to the development of new power electronics technologies and intellectual property.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the design and development of power electronic systems.
• Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience with semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs).
• Proficiency in simulation tools such as SPICE, PLECS, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with thermal management and PCB layout for power electronics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
