Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in power systems to join their team based in Southampton . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and optimizing the electrical infrastructure that powers our client's critical operations and innovative projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our power distribution networks and associated equipment. Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage electrical power systems, including distribution, protection, and control strategies.
• Perform load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and stability studies for complex power networks.
• Specify and select power system components such as transformers, switchgear, and generators.
• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments of existing power infrastructure.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., BS 7671).
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for power system issues, both during design and in operational phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Systems.
• 5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of AC/DC power distribution, motor control, and protection relays.
• Knowledge of renewable energy integration and grid connection standards is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborative work in Southampton .
