About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Power Systems to join their team in Plymouth, Devon . This senior role will involve leading the design, analysis, and implementation of complex power distribution networks and systems for a variety of critical infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of power supply solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and liaising with stakeholders. This is a key position for an engineer passionate about power engineering and seeking to make a substantial contribution to significant projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of high-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, substations, and associated infrastructure.
- Conduct detailed power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, stability, and protection coordination analysis.
- Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, protection relay settings, and equipment specifications.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of power systems, ensuring compliance with standards and project requirements.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and technicians working on power projects.
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery in Plymouth and beyond.
Requirements
- MSc in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in power system design, analysis, and project engineering.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, or PSCAD.
- In-depth knowledge of protection schemes, grounding principles, and power quality issues.
- Strong understanding of relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC), and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
