Senior Electrical Engineer - Renewables

About the Role

Our client, a key innovator in the renewable energy sector , is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join their expanding team, operating remotely to support projects across the UK, including initiatives near Sheffield . This role is central to the electrical design and integration of renewable energy generation facilities, such as solar farms and battery storage systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless and efficient connection of these assets to the national grid, contributing significantly to the UK's clean energy goals. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design for renewable energy projects, including grid connection studies and specifications.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and control philosophy documentation.
• Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and cabling for renewable energy installations.
• Oversee the tendering process for electrical components and construction works.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical standards, grid codes, and health & safety regulations.
• Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and handover phases of projects.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering , with a significant focus on power generation or grid connection projects.
• Proven experience with renewable energy systems (solar PV, wind, battery storage).
• Strong understanding of grid connection requirements and relevant standards.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools.
• Excellent project management and communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
