Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is central to the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems for various projects within the renewable and conventional energy sectors. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of electrical infrastructure, working closely with project managers and technical teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation.
• Prepare detailed electrical design documents, including schematics, single-line diagrams, and specifications.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
• Conduct electrical safety assessments and ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., BS 7671).
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues encountered during project execution and operation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical designs with mechanical and civil engineering aspects.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (7+ years) as an Electrical Engineer in the energy or industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of power systems , high-voltage equipment, and protection schemes.
• Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or similar.
• Experience with project management and site supervision.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, essential for project delivery in Sunderland .
