Senior Electrical Grid Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Grid Engineer to join their established team in Portsmouth . This role is crucial for maintaining and upgrading the electrical infrastructure that powers our communities. You will be involved in the design, planning, and operational management of the electricity grid, ensuring its reliability, safety, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and implementation of projects related to power system expansion , protection, and operational improvements.
• Conduct detailed load flow studies , short-circuit analysis, and stability assessments for the electrical grid.
• Develop and maintain grid code compliance documentation and ensure adherence to all relevant regulations.
• Oversee the planning and execution of maintenance programs for substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and operational staff.
• Investigate grid incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in power systems engineering , with a focus on transmission and distribution grids.
• Strong knowledge of grid operations, protection schemes, and power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP).
• Familiarity with renewable energy integration challenges and grid interconnection requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a thorough understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
