Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join their remote-first engineering team. This role is critical for the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge embedded solutions that power our client's next generation of products. You will work on challenging projects, from hardware selection and firmware development to system integration and testing, contributing significantly to technological advancements. The position offers the autonomy and flexibility of a remote role, coupled with the opportunity to influence product direction and mentor other engineers in the Reading area and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded hardware and firmware for new product development.
• Select appropriate microcontrollers, sensors, and peripherals for various embedded applications.
• Write efficient, well-documented, and maintainable firmware code in C/C++.
• Develop and implement communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, USB) and low-level drivers.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and product management teams in a remote setting to define system architectures and requirements.
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of embedded systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in embedded systems development.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded applications.
• In-depth knowledge of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM, PIC) and peripheral interfacing.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux.
• Familiarity with hardware design principles and the use of electronic test equipment.
