About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly knowledgeable and strategic Senior Energy Policy Analyst to join their team in Oxford . This pivotal role involves researching, analyzing, and advising on energy policies, regulations, and market trends that impact the energy sector. You will play a key part in shaping the company's strategic direction by providing critical insights into the evolving policy landscape. Working from their Oxfordshire base, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external organizations to advocate for effective and sustainable energy policies, contributing to the broader energy transition efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of current and proposed energy policies at national and international levels.
• Evaluate the potential impacts of policy changes on the company's operations, market position, and strategic objectives.
• Develop policy recommendations and position papers to support the company's advocacy efforts.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector, providing timely updates and risk assessments.
• Engage with government bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to represent the company's policy interests.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, briefings, and presentations for senior management and external audiences.
• Collaborate with technical and commercial teams to ensure policy analysis is grounded in practical realities.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Economics, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Law, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in energy policy analysis, government affairs, or regulatory consulting within the energy sector.
• In-depth knowledge of UK and EU energy policy frameworks, regulations, and market mechanisms.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and legislation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to articulate policy positions clearly and persuasively.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and advocacy is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple research projects simultaneously.
