About the Role
Our client, a studio celebrated for its expansive and immersive open-world games, is seeking an experienced Senior Environment Artist to join their dedicated team in Bristol . This role is critical in building the rich, believable, and visually stunning game worlds that players explore. You will be responsible for creating high-quality environment assets, contributing to the overall layout, mood, and artistic direction of large-scale game environments. Working collaboratively with level designers and other artists, you will help craft memorable landscapes and architectural elements that define the player's journey and enhance the overall gaming experience, ensuring our worlds are as engaging as they are beautiful.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-fidelity environment assets , including terrain, foliage, buildings, and props, optimizing for performance in an open-world setting.
- Collaborate with level designers to establish the layout and flow of game environments, ensuring artistic and gameplay coherence.
- Develop and implement PBR materials and textures that contribute to the overall visual quality and mood of the environment.
- Utilize industry-standard tools such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance Suite, and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine).
- Set and maintain visual quality benchmarks for environments, ensuring consistency and artistic integrity.
- Mentor junior environment artists, providing feedback and guidance on asset creation and techniques.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as an Environment Artist , with a significant portfolio demonstrating open-world contributions.
- Strong proficiency in 3D modeling, sculpting, texturing , and material creation.
- Expertise with industry-standard DCC tools and game engines.
- Solid understanding of composition, lighting , and color theory as applied to environmental art.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to evolving project needs.
