About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Environment Artist to join their acclaimed game development studio in Cambridge . You will be responsible for creating immersive and visually stunning game environments that serve as the backdrop for compelling player experiences. This role demands a strong artistic sensibility, excellent 3D modeling and texturing skills, and a deep understanding of environmental storytelling. You will collaborate closely with level designers, lighting artists, and art directors to build worlds that are not only beautiful but also functional and engaging for players. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to the visual fidelity and atmosphere of exciting new game titles.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D environment assets, including models, textures, and materials, adhering to art direction.
- Build and assemble game levels, ensuring environmental layouts are functional, visually appealing, and optimized for performance.
- Implement lighting and post-processing effects to enhance mood and atmosphere within environments.
- Collaborate with level designers to ensure environments support gameplay mechanics and narrative flow.
- Optimize environment assets for real-time rendering, managing polygon counts and texture memory.
- Mentor junior environment artists and provide constructive feedback on their work.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as an Environment Artist in the video game industry.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max) and sculpting tools (e.g., ZBrush).
- Strong skills in texturing and material creation using software like Substance Painter and Photoshop.
- Experience with modern game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and their environment creation tools.
- A strong portfolio showcasing high-quality environment art and level design work.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
